Hi there.
I have been practicing GMAT quant. exercises and stuck with this question.
In option (1) it says that there are 4800 cans that are filled, but it does not state that lids are installed on them. Thus, when considering (1) and (2) together, it is still undefined how many C type machines are working at the same time. For ex. may be only 1 C type machine is working, as the statement in option (1) does not necessarily mean that all 4800 cans are lid installed.
Does the option (1) imply that all 4800 cans are filled and all of them have lids installed? And if yes, may be there is a need of better wording?
You will see that in the main stem they say the following: “A lid is installed on each can that is filled and on no can that is not filled”. That is why when they say a total of 4800 cans are filled, then that means 4800 lids are installed on all those cans. I hope this clarifies your question.
Hi Dabral
Thank you for the info, I was thinking about same too.. The sentence “A lid is installed on each can that is filled and on no can that is not filled” does really make me to think at a partical time “filled= installed”.
