Recently, one of the user of this website sent me a helpful email asking me to elaborate on the following comment he made: “Going through your site, it’s occurred to me there are some specific areas I’d like to have your suggestions on. For example, you seem to be quite masterful at quickly organizing the work and information for the problems in a way that clarifies the question and provides insight into its solution. This may be just practiced skill, but I’d love to know if there were any guidelines or general strategies you use for writing down the given information and going through the work.”
To expand on his comment, I decided to attempt official GMAT problems(completely new to me) and attempt them live on video. I thought this would be the best way to illustrate the steps that I would take under actual exam conditions. I have picked two problems, one data sufficiency, and one problem solving, to illustrate these steps. You will notice the mistakes that I make and how I detected them and corrected them. This is an inherent part of the problem solving and can be easily honed with practice and awareness of the common traps.
